PROBLEMS AND TROUBLESHOOTING REFRIGERATORS: Q. MY REFRIGERATOR AND/OR MICROWAVE IS NOT TURNING ON. A. FIRST. CHECK TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE POWER. UNPLUG THE REFRIGERATOR AND TRY SOMETHING ELSE IN THE SAME OUTLET. DO NOT USE EXTENSION CORDS. IF THE OUTLET IS NOT WORKING CALL PHYSICAL PLANT ON CAMPUS FOR SERVICE. IF THE OUTLET IS WORKING PLUG THE REFRIGERATOR DIRECTLY INTO THE SAME OUTLET AND ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE CONTROL KNOB TO THE HIGHEST SETTING. TOUCH THE BOTTOM OF THE FREEZER SECTION INSIDE THE REFRIGERATOR TO SEE IF IT IS GETTING COLD AFTER ABOUT 10 MINUTES. IF NOT CLICK HERE FOR SERVICE IF YOU HAVE A MICROWAVE/REFRIGERATOR, AND ONE OF THE COMPONENTS IS NOT WORKING, UNPLUG THE MICROWAVE AND THE REFRIGERATOR FROM THE POWER ALOCATOR BOX AND PLUG THEM DIRECTLY INTO THE WALL OUTLET. IF THE PROBLEM CONTINUES CLICK HERE FOR SERVICE Q. HOW DO I ADJUST THE TEMPERATURE IN MY REFRIGERATOR? A. LOOK INSIDE OF YOUR REFRIGERATOR FOR A KNOB WITH NUMBERS ON IT. TURN THE KNOB CLOCKWISE (TO A HIGHER NUMBER) TO MAKE THE REFRIGERATOR COLDER AND COUNTERCLOCKWISE TO MAKE IT WARMER. Q. SHOULD MY REFRIGERATOR KEEP ICE CREAM AND MICROWAVEABLE DINNERS FROZEN? A. YOU MUST HAVE ONE OF OUR 3.0 FRIDGE/FREEZERS OR MICROWAVE/FRIDGES TO KEEP FOODS FROZEN IN THE FREEZER SECTION. THE INTERNAL FREEZER IN THE 2.5 CF, 3.1CF, AND 4.0CF IS DESIGNED TO MAKE ICE CUBES BUT WILL NOT GET COLD ENOUGH TO KEEP ICE CREAM AND OTHER FOODS FROZEN. Q. I THINK MY FRIDGE IS LEAKING WATER INSIDE. IS THIS NORMAL? A. WHAT YOU ARE EXPERIENCING IS CONDENSATION ( REFRIGERATORS DO NOT CONTAIN WATER) AND IT IS NORMAL IN COMPACT REFRIGERATORS. THEY ARE NOT FROST FREE AND CONDENSATION RESULTS WHEN THE WARM MOIST AIR FROM YOUR ROOM COMBINES WITH THE COLD SURFACES OF THE REFRIGERATOR AND ITS CONTENTS.
TELEVISIONS Q. ALL OR MOST OF MY CHANNELS ARE SNOWY A. CHECK YOUR CABLE CONNECTION. UNSCREW THE CABLE CORD FROM THE BACK OF THE TV AND AT THE WALL. THERE IS A COPPER WIRE IN THE CENTER OF THE CABLE CORD THAT MUST BE INSERTED INTO THE CENTER OF THE RECEPTOR ON THE TV AND WALL OUTLET. IF THIS WIRE IS BENT TO ONE SIDE OR IS MISSING, YOU WILL NOT RECEIVE CLEAR RECEPTION. REATTACH THE CABLE TO THE TV AND WALL AND TIGHTEN SECURELY . IF THIS DOES NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM, TRY CONNECTING THE CABLE TO A NEIGHBORS OUTLET TO DETERMINE IF THE CABLE CONNECTION AND/OR SERVICE IS OPERATIONAL IN YOUR ROOM. IF YOU RECEIVE CLEAR CHANNELS, CALL PHYSICAL PLANT ON CAMPUS TO REPORT A PROBLEM WITH THE CABLE SERVICE. IF NOT CLICK HERE FOR SERVICE Q. I AM ONLY RECEIVING A FEW CABLE CHANNELS. A. CHECK YOUR CABLE CONNECTION FIRST (SEE ABOVE). YOU MAY NEED TO PROGRAM THE TV. ON THE TV OR REMOTE, PRESS MENU (OR SETUP). USING THE VOLUME (OR CHANNEL) UP AND DOWN BUTTONS MOVE THROUGH THE MENU TO A SCREEN THAT SAYS "CABLE/AIR" OR "STD, HRC, IRC". HIGHLIGHT CABLE OR STD. PRESS ENTER. THEN MOVE THROUGH THE MENU AGAIN UNTIL YOU RECEIVE A SCREEN THAT HAS CHANNEL SEARCH. HIGHLIGHT CHANNEL SEARCH AND PRESS THE VOLUME (OR CHANNEL) (OR ENTER )BUTTON TO START THE SEARCH. IF YOU STILL DO NOT RECEIVE ALL OF THE CABLE CHANNELS, CHECK WITH A NEIGHBOR TO ASSURE THAT THE CABLE SERVICE IS NOT TEMPORARILY OUT. IF THE CABLE SERVICE IS WORKING THEN CLICK HERE FOR SERVICE Q. MY REMOTE CONTROL STOPPED WORKING. A. IF YOUR REMOTE IS A UNIVERSAL MODEL WITH A "Z" AT THE BOTTOM, YOU MAY NEED TO REPROGRAM THE REMOTE. REPLACE THE BATTERIES IN THE REMOTE AND MAKE SURE THEY ARE WORKING AND POINTED IN THE DIRECTION SHOWN IN THE BATTERY AREA. LOOK FOR A 3 DIGIT CODE ON TOP OF THE TV THAT SAYS "REMOTE CODE" . PRESS AND HOLD THE "CODE SEARCH" BUTTON ON THE REMOTE UNTIL THE RED LIGHT STAYS LIT. THEN PRESS AND RELEASE THE THE "TV" BUTTON, THEN PRESS IN THE 3 DIGIT "REMOTE CODE".
